““I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.””
Hey Sis! How are you? No really, I want to know? Well if you’re anything like me, you’re a woman pursuing Christ and His will for your life and find it hard. Yep quite frankly it’s H-A-R-D, but I’m becoming more and more aware that it’s supposed to be and The Lord will place us in seasons of hardship to position and prepare us for that will of His that we are so desperately seeking. He is putting us through the refiner’s fire so that our hearts will be purified and reflect the image of Christ – no easy task by any stretch of the imagination.
The refiner’s fire for me comes in the form of marriage and motherhood – and I might argue that no two roles combined could challenge my Christian womanhood quite like that of being a wife and mother, especially for such a time as this. But here I am in all of my brokenness halfway pleading to The Lord for some relief, a vacation, a day off and then halfway saying to Him that I wouldn’t trade the chaos, fatigue and weight of responsibility for anything in the world.
I have been thinking though, I cannot be alone in this – there have to be other Christian women out there that find this struggle all too real and so, by what I believe was the prompting of The Holy Spirit, I’ve created this space simply to find you, connect with you so that we might bare one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Future wives and mothers, this space is for you too, you are not forgotten! I don’t believe that anything could have prepared me more for marriage and motherhood than the wise counsel I have received from women who had already been where I was headed.
Consider this: the definition of “motherhood” is “the state of being a mother”; the definition of “matrimony” is “the state of being married”; the definition of “the state of” is “the particular condition that someone is in at a specific time.” I find these definitions fascinating because they illuminate for me where The Lord wants me to be at all times, through ever season and no matter what “state” I am in as a wife or mother - that is simply to be content, resting in Him and believing on His promises. I pray that in this space we can each edify one another to pursue true contentment in Christ Jesus no matter the issue we are facing or will face as (future) wives and (future) mothers.
I so look forward to connecting with you, my heart needs it and I pray yours does too. May The Lord bless you and continue to keep you in His grace and perfect peace.
